SCOPE OF WORKS
Blacktown City Council engaged Convil Group to undertake extensive upgrades to Schofields Park. The project delivers new community infrastructure through the construction of recreational facilities, pathways, landscaping, and associated civil works.
The scope of works includes:
Demolition and Site Clearing
- Extensive demolition of concrete and asphalt paving, retaining walls, staircases, and playground area.
- Bulk excavation, site grubbing and tree removal for new proposed works.
- Removal of street furniture, fencing, and playground equipment across the site.
Amenities Building
The project involves major modifications to the existing amenities block building:
- Brickwork alterations, façade enhancements, privacy screening and architectural finishes to modernise the building.
- Replacement and extension of the existing roof, including new skylights, roof drainage and a covered patio canopy.
- Internal fit-out works, including new ceilings, tiling, painting, bench seating and associated finishes.
- Refurbishment of the existing meeting room, change rooms and toilet facilities.
- Accessibility upgrades, including a new accessible toilet and shower.
- Upgrades to internal and external lighting, electrical services, security systems and electronic access control.
Civil Construction
- Construction of a multi-tiered concrete grandstand adjoining the amenities building as spectator seating.
- Installation of stormwater infrastructure to collect water around the upgraded amenities block and playground area and channel to stormwater pipe at Station St.
- Construction of over 2700sqm of concrete pavements.
- Construction of over 100m of curved concrete retaining walls and staircases.
- Installation of brick paving on a bedding sand base around picnic tables and shelters.
- Relocation of the existing electrical sports lighting poles.
- Installation of sandstone logs around the site.
- Construction of swales around the site.
Carpark
- Resurfacing 950sqm of the carpark with 10mm spray seal.
- Installation of wheel stops, signage and linemarking.
Playground
- Installation of playground equipment, including fitness station, swings, play equipment, and a climbing unit.
- Installation of wetpour rubber softfall around the playground footprint.
- Installation of a water pump, rock-lined swales, boulders, gravel and ferns around the playground footprint to construct a wet-play area.
Landscaping
- Planting of over 30,000 shrubs, ground covers and tufts.
- Planting of over 140 trees.
- Installation of street furniture around the park, including picnic shelters, seats, benches, drinking fountains, and bins.
- Installation of balustrades and fencing around the site.
- Extensive mulch installation, topsoil installation, regrading.
- Installation of turf around the footprint of the site works.
