SCOPE OF WORKS

Liverpool City Council engaged Convil Group to deliver the Macquarie Street Streetscape Upgrade between Moore Street and Scott Street in the heart of Liverpool CBD. The project involved extensive inf

The project forms part of Council’s broader city centre revitalisation program, transforming the streetscape into a safer, greener and more vibrant public space that enhances pedestrian connectivity and supports local businesses. Delivered within a busy commercial precinct, the works were carefully staged to minimise disruption while upgrading the public domain and transport infrastructure

These works consist of the following:

Civil Works

  • Demolition and disposal of 4000sqm pavers and concrete subbase.
  • Laying 4000sqm of granite pavers over a reinforced concrete base.
  • Sealing and caulking 4000sqm of pavers and 600m of K&G.
  • 3000sqm of hot mix asphalt resheeting.
  • Reconstruction of a 200sqm concrete pedestrian crossing with trafficable cobblestone pattern granite paver infills in a decorative pattern using Laticrete 3701 Admix and Laticrete 290 Adhesive including a 200mm reinforced concrete subbase.
  • Demolition of more than 600m of concrete kerb & gutter, ramps, and laybacks.
  • Construction of more than 600m of granite bluestone kerb & gutter, ramps, and laybacks over a concrete subbase

 

Stormwater Drainage

  • Reconstruction and modification to 48 x stormwater drainage pits including the installation of 9 x bluestone lintels for EKI pits.
  • Cutting, modifying and reconstructing 135m of existing stormwater pipe.

 

Landscaping

  • Construction of 28 x tree pits including filtapaving, planting of some trees, stratavault systems and NDD.
  • Installation of 73 x metal and timber seating.
  • Installation of more than 120m of custom curved off-form concrete seating including LED undermounted lighting strips.
  • Installation of 11 x 240L bins.
  • Installation of a drinking fountain including a Sydney Water tap in and plumbing provisions.
  • Installation of 18 x bike stands.
  • Installation of 24 x bollards.
  • Landscaping including turfing and planting of shrubs.
  • Installation of fixtures, signage and line marking.
  • Preservation of heritage features including culverts, artworks, pavers and mosaics.

 

Electrical and Utility Installations

    • Restoration of a 200sqm canopy structure spanning up to 10m high including installing 38 x new street grade downlights, 45m of LED strips and sealing/painting the entire structure.
    • Installation of 53 x new GRC communication pits with paver infill covers.
    • Installation of 279 x LED floor lighting including all provisions such as conduits, upturns and connections, backfill, installation of individual housing unit, installation of individual drainage for each lighting strip including a free draining sump, cutting of pavers to suit, caulking and temporary make safe while works is undertaken for each LED strip.
    • Installation of 106 tree lights including all provisions such as conduits, upturns and connections, backfill, installation of individual housing unit, installation of individual drainage for each tree light including a free draining sump, core-drilling pavers to suit, caulking and temporary make safe while works is undertaken for each tree light.
    • Installation of 21 x smart lighting poles including all provisions such as conduit works, footings including cantilevered ones, investigative works for services and connections.
    • Provisions for the new Main Switch Board including pillar, connection from existing O/G pillar.
    • More than 1850m of trenching completed for the electrical conduits most of which through NDD and approx. 10,000m of conduit laid within these trenches.
    • 48 x telstra pit reconstruction/adjustment including asbestos pits.
    • Water and gas utility adjustments.
